Book your very own Factory Tour

Located in Poole, our factory welcomes visitors for an insightful tour. Led by our Production Director, Dave Hazel, you can see firsthand how our aluminium sliding doors and windows are meticulously crafted. Being a UK-based operation gives us significant advantages; we have complete control over glass quality, finishes, the manufacturing process, and lead times.

“Seeing the entire process instils confidence in our products. We’re proud of our production quality, and our team is dedicated to delivering beautifully crafted doors and windows on schedule. We encourage our customers to see the precision and attention to detail that goes into each product.”

What to Expect

As glazing specialists, we are passionate about our craft. While we understand that not everyone is eager to delve into technical details, we guarantee an informative experience for those who are. Whether you’re a homeowner planning a project, a developer seeking a reliable glazing partner, or an architect looking to deepen your understanding of our design and manufacturing capabilities, your questions are welcome!

The Components Store

Our on-site components store holds over 10,000 door and window parts, ensuring we can expedite lead times. From fixings and sealants to handles in every system-matching colour, everything is meticulously organised to streamline production.

Fitters’ Collection Zone

Our warehouse team carefully compiles all necessary ancillaries and fixings for door and window installation in the Fitters’ Collection Zone. This ensures that our fitting teams have everything they need for each job, eliminating unnecessary delays.

Glass Checking

Before manufacturing begins, we order large sheets of glass from our specialist suppliers. Production only starts once we are satisfied with the quality of the glass. Each pane is unloaded, cleaned, and inspected to ensure it meets glass industry standards.

Research & Training Zone

The ODC Glass Dedicated Training Zone is where we maintain up-to-date product knowledge for all staff. Here, we conduct new product testing and alternative component trials, ensuring we remain at the forefront of innovation.

Metalwork Materials Store

With over £1 million in stock and 50,000 linear metres of metal profile, our Metalwork Store guarantees the capacity to manufacture with the quickest lead times. This is where the sliding door manufacturing process begins, and our rigorous Quality Check (QC) process is initiated.

We saw ODC doors in a property that was being built around the corner. They were the sort of thing we were looking for with large areas of glass so we got in touch.

We liked the fact that they were manufactured on-site – that was a particular feature that appealed to us. We could actually hear, see and touch the products themselves.

The Factory: Crafting UK Aluminium Sliding Doors and Windows

Our factory is a bustling environment filled with large, sophisticated machinery. A tour offers a revealing look at how we create our high-quality products.

Sawing

Our software-controlled saws cut precise lengths of metal profiles for each window design. Every length is logged and checked as part of our comprehensive QC process.

CNC Machining

Each metalwork section is configured with exact drill holes and cuts in the machining stage. Two advanced CNC machines, accurate to 0.01mm, perform this task, with each stage meticulously checked and logged.

Finishing & Assembly

At this stage, our slimline aluminium window and door frames are expertly assembled. Experienced assemblers crimp frames using a durable two-part glueing process, fit gaskets and weather seals, and ensure each frame’s size is accurate. Once the QC process is complete, the doors and window frames are wrapped and stored on individual racks by project.

Glass and Frame Bonding

This process is worth seeing! Our operators use a half-tonne glass-handling vacuum machine to align and bond the glass and frames with laser precision. Factory bonding ensures the highest quality and accuracy, a crucial part of the ODC Glass QC process.

Loading for Delivery and Installation

Finally, doors and windows are carefully wrapped, labelled, and loaded onto customised stillages for delivery on agreed installation dates. With over 50 projects often awaiting transportation, we ensure every item is delivered safely and on time.
