Black sliding glass doors open up London terrace

A large three storey end of terrace London home occupies a corner plot; its dimensions are generous but quirky, with only one ground floor window facing out onto the garden. The solution: open up the entire living space with a impressively wide, slimline sliding door system – over five metres of moving panels to create a glass wall to the outside.

It’s a transforming design. The ODC slimline sliding system is minimal and contemporary, complementing the uncluttered, redesigned modern interior decor. Frames are finished in matt jet black, defining the views to the outside with confidence. Thresholds are flush to the outdoor pathway and lawns for family-friendly installation.

Black aluminium French doors

This property renovation includes a new kitchen-dining area and here the owners celebrate their home’s period heritage. Painted cabinets, oak flooring and brass fixtures are illuminated by a replacement pair of French doors in high-performance, thermally efficient aluminium.

The large ODC121 bifold french doors have black frames and added matching Metro glazing bars for that Crittall and period look. Above the doors is a fixed super-insulated ODC75 window; its slim frames allow in more light than the original design but its glazing bars maintain the period style of this part of the house.

Versatility of aluminium door design

This project exemplifies the versatility of external aluminium doors; the client has two black aluminium doors with very different profiles and configurations. And although they have glass panel sizes at either end of the manufacturing scale, both the French double doors and the three panel sliding patio door have the same high performance security and thermal efficiency.
