This project demonstrates how a glazing design can dramatically change the living space of a home without the need for an expensive extension. The internal layout and rear façade of a five-storey semi-detached Georgian townhouse in Blackheath have been reconfigured in a dramatic and thoughtful way by Nimtim Architects.
Two sets of bifolding aluminium doors at the rear of the property and clever window positioning enhance the views onto the garden as well as introducing light into the lower ground floor level. Unlocking unused existing space in the house has given the young family a home that suits their requirements, and all achieved on a relatively modest budget.
