Full height sliding doors transform period home
On first setting foot in this North London property, the clients were immediately charmed. However, they recognized the need for some changes. The lower ground floor, once dark and divided into cramped spaces, had to be transformed into a spacious, open-plan kitchen-living-dining area that seamlessly extended into a garden.
The renovation began with the rear wall of the lower ground floor. This wall was replaced with a modern, five-panel SL800 sliding system, which spans from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. This gloomy interior is transformed by an uninterrupted wall of glass. Slimline black frames contrast with a cool white interior and the tropical planting scheme beyond.
Full height glazing for stairwell
A generous full height fixed window reveals a striking steel staircase, views down onto the lush garden, and a hallway now flooded with natural light. To create a more welcoming and visually appealing entry, the staircase has been strategically oriented to draw attention to the garden.
Rooflights deliver more light
The ceiling has been raised to create a sense of airiness and large rooflights added to brighten the interior space. This thoughtful design has resulted in a stylish, elegant space that greatly enhances the property’s overall appeal.
