This house has the sea on its doorstep! The detached Hamptons-style beach house overlooks Poole harbour and has a private mooring on the shoreline. Views are spectacular from every room, and particularly from its the new glass extension where a sliding system with an expansive open corner creates seamless access to the sunny patio.
The ground floor has three high performance ODC SL320 slimline sliding systems, with full height glass panels to maximise views for the dining room, the snug and kitchen/living room. The homeowners now enjoy a calm, comfortable open plan space with uninterrupted, endlessly compelling views of harbour activity.
The new extension has glass walls spanning a total of 7.5 metres, comprising five panels, two of which peel away to create a frameless open corner. The specified SL320s have ultra-slim frames and handles colour-matched in white; their huge panels are set in flush thresholds and glide effortlessly on stainless steel tracks.
All three sets of sliding doors are finished in a standard white powder coating, complementing the restful beach house interior of natural textures and textiles. The powder coating is extremely low maintenance and easy to clean, and while the location looks serene and inviting here, wild weather can carry sea spray onto the property. A marine grade finish was specified to give exceptional protection against coastal weather conditions and UV damage.
The extension also features a fixed glass apex window section (rather than a glass roof) which expands the horizon and increases light whilst preserving privacy. This bespoke window section is created from the ODC75si, a super-insulated, exceptional window designed for the most challenging locations. See below for its use in a recent award-winning cliff-top project.
