From start to finish this has been an extraordinary project, the like of which you’re unlikely to see again.
An elegant five storey London townhouse has been extended and opened up with a bold, double height SL800 sliding system extension. A stunning six metres in height, each SL800 pane weighs over 1,200kg and yet glides open so easily (as you can see from the video below). Huge glass panels endow the house with air and light, as well as uninterrupted views from both ground floor dining and first floor mezzanine living areas.
A glazed roof, from which is suspended a sculptural light fitting, gives an atrium atmosphere to the interior. Summer night dining or winter afternoon family time, the doors can be positioned to offer as much or as little connection to the patio, garden and play area as desired.
Installation as well as design makes this a stand-out project for ODC. With essential road closure arranged with the local authority, a specialist crane vacuum-lifted each enormous glass panel and manoeuvred them over the full height of the terrace to allow the team to begin the precise and exact installation of glass into frames.
